Computer Multimedia Animation Technology (CMAT) Curriculum

computerChecklist.jpgWelcome & Congratulations for enrolling in the Computer Multimedia Animation Technology course. A career in Multimedia and Animation prepares you for working in a high dynamic, high-tech environment in every industry.

The Computer Multimedia Animation Technology course is the introductory course designed to allow you to learn what Multimedia and Animation professionals do, and practice some of the basic skills and techniques they work with on a daily basis. This course is full of "hands on" projects that will help you experience multimedia and animation as it happens! We will build skills and a portfolio of work that can be used to gain employment or to further educational pursuits. We will also study teamwork, leadership, integrity, honesty, work habits, and organizational skills. A wide variety of software and equipment will be used.

The following is an outline of the topics we will attempt to cover, but I can’t promise we’ll make

Digital Imaging
Visual Design is a project-based curriculum that helps students develop technology literacy, creativity, effective communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills in print and graphic design using Adobe tools.

Visual Design develops key digital communication skills: design, communication, project management, and graphic and print technology. Key skills are developed in a spiral as each project adds more challenging skills on foundation proficiencies.

Visual Design aligns to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Students (2007) as well as the new Adobe Certified Associate Visual Communication objectives to prepare students for certification.

Digital Video
The Digital Video project-based curriculum develops career and communication skills in video production, using Adobe tools. You can use the Digital Video curriculum in career and technical education courses as well as courses involving video use in academic courses.

The Digital Video curriculum develops knowledge in storytelling, capturing and editing video and audio, and finalizing content for DVD or web through emphasis on design, communication, project management, and video technology. Key skills are developed in a spiral as each project adds more challenging skills on foundation proficiencies.

The Digital Video curriculum aligns to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Students (2007).

Grading: 75% for daily grades & projects; 25% for exams.
